William Hunt (1855 - 13 January 1943) was an architect and politician.

Born in Tarrant Gunville in Dorset, he was the son of Charles Hunt, a thatcher and builder.

By July 1876 he was working as a building contractor in Chelsea, when he married Celia Jane Holgate.

By 1891 he was living in Fulham and described himself as an architect and surveyor. He moved to Balham in south London. He was elected unopposed at the first election to Wandsworth Borough Council in November 1900 representing Balham Ward, he was subsequently a borough alderman.

He was also a member of the London County Council from 1904-31. He was originally elected as a Moderate Party councillor representing Wandsworth. The Moderates were reorganised as the Municipal Reform Party at the 1907 election, and Hunt held the seat as a Municipal Reformer in 1907 and 1910, but was defeated in 1913 at South Islington.

He remained a member of the council, however, as he was appointed an alderman in 1913. He sat on the aldermanic benches until 1922 when he was elected as a councillor for Wandsworth, Putney. He held the seat in 1925 and 1928, standing down at the 1931 election.

He was vice chairman of the county council in 1926-27.
