Born 18 October 1900, died 10 November 1980.[1]

The son of Isidore Salmon, he was educated at Bedales School and Jesus College, Cambridge. He entered business and local politics.[1]

Business[]

Salmaon was at one time chairman of Palace Hotel Limited and a director of Cadogan Investments Limited. At the time of his death he was chairman of J Lyons and Company Limited.[1]

Politics[]

In 1949 Salmon was elected to the London County Council as a Conservative Party councillor representing the Cities of London and Westminster. He held the seat until the council's abolition in 1965, and served as Deputy Chairman of the LCC in 1959-1960.[2] In 1960 he was knighted for "political and public services in London".[3]

From 1965-1968 he was a member of the successor Greater London Council, representing the City of Westminster.

He was mayor of London Borough of Hammersmith in 1968–69.

He was also appointed a governor of the Regent Street Polytechnic in 1950 and to the Metropolitan Water Board, in 1970.

Family[]

In 1937 he married Lallah Wendy Benjamin, and they had one son and one daughter.[1]
