Finchley was a local government district in Middlesex, from 1878 to 1965. It formed part of the northern suburbs of London and was within the Metropolitan Police District and London Passenger Transport Area. Its former area now forms part of the London Borough of Barnet.
History:
- 1878-1894 Finchley Local Government District, governed by a local board
- 1894-1933 Finchley Urban District, governed by an urban district council
- 1933-1965 Borough of Finchley, governed by a town council consisting of a mayor, aldermen and councillors.
