Mill Mead is an area in East London, in the London Borough of Newham. A historic industrial district situated among the creeks and channels of the River Lea.
Mill Meads is the location of Three Mills, Channelsea Islands, and the Abbey Mills Pumping Station
History[]
During the Second World War, Mill Meads was home to over 100 allotments, run by the West Ham Allotment Society. Ordnance Survey maps show that allotments existed here from at least 1896.[1]
Transport[]
Abbey Road Station is on the Docklands Light Railway and is located on the Stratford International extension. It opened on 31 August 2011, over a year late, providing the community new links to the rest of London.[2]
