Frederick Lionel Dove (1855 - 11 June 1932) was a businessman and local politician.[1]
A builder and contractor, he was born in Islington.[2]
In 1896 he was elected to the Islington Vestry and to Islington Borough Council in 1900, serving two three-year terms as a councillor.
In 1916 he was resident at "Halesworth", Crouch Hill, Finsbury Park;[3] by 1922 he was living at "The Mount House", Hadley, Middlesex.[3]
Following his apprenticeship he joined the family building firm of Dove Brothers. He became head of the company. At various times he was President of the Institute of Builders, the London Master Builders' Association and of the National Federation of Builders.[1]
In 1907 he was elected to the London County Council as a Municipal Reform Party councillor representing Islington North. He held the seat until his death, and was Vice Chairman of the County Council in 1928–1929.
From 1908 he was a member of the Metropolitan Water Board, serving as vice chairman for six years.[1]
He was Master of the Worshipful Company of Leathersellers in 1925-26.[1] In 1918 he was appointed a Deputy Lieutenant of the County of London.[4]
