Epping Underground Station is on the London Underground Central Line (Epping Branch) outside Greater London and beyond the M25 in the Epping Forest District in Epping CM16 in Travelcard Zone 6.
History[]
The station opened on 24 April 1865 by Eastern Counties Railways which makes it one of the oldest stations operated on the network, And stayed as a mainline station until 25 September 1949 when it was transferred to London Transport. The present eastern terminus of the Central Line was previously extended through to Ongar Station but has since 1994 been disconnected, though the tracks beyond Epping Station continue and are used for Epping Ongar Railway heritage trains.
