Edward William Cruse (c.1867 - 15 December 1938)
Born in Tottenham the son of Edward Cruse, a ragmaker, by 1881 the family had moved to Bow in the East End of London. He gained work as a gunmaker. By 1921 he was working for the Central Unemployed Body for London an an enquiry officer.
Labour Party member of the London County Council representing Poplar, Bow and Bromley 1919-38. Deputy Chairman of the London County Council 1927 - 1928
Chairman of the LCC Fire Brigade Committee - during his period of office he was given 166 model fire engines.
