Lieutenant-Colonel Charles Frederick Colvile (c.1843 - 31 December 1922)

Colville entered the army as an ensign in the 54th Foot in 1860. He became a lieutenant "by purchase" in 1864 and in 1871 exchanged to the 11th Foot as a captain. In 1873 he was given the appointment of Brigade Major for the Belfast District. In 1879 became a staff officer, eventually rising to the rank of lieutenant-colonel.

Following his retirement from the army he settled in Harrington Gardens, South Kensington. He became a director of a number of companies including the London Road Car Company and the London General Omnibus Company.

From 1905-1907 he sat as a Moderate Party Member of the London County Council representing Kensington South. In 1909-1919 he was a member of Kensington Borough Council.

His son, Augustus Gilbert Colvile, also represented Kensington South on the county council from 1913-19.
