Altab Ali Park, formerly known as St. Mary's Park, is a small park in Whitechapel.

History

Altab Ali Park is on site of the old 14th-century church, St Mary Matfelon, [1] and is named after Altab Ali, a Bangladeshi textile worker who was murdered by three teenagers on 4 May 1978 in a racist attack as he walked home from work.[2]
